Residents of Florence since the early 13th century, the noble Antinori family has been synonymous with fine wines from Tuscany for some 600 years. Yet, though their winemaking roots go back 26 generations, the family is far from tradition-bound, responsible for such innovations as the well recognized “Super Tuscan” blend, pioneered by the current owner Piero Antinori in the 1970s. 2009 sees the expansion in China of their blockbuster range Santa Cristina.
Long regarded as a timeless Tuscan classic, Santa Cristina dates back to 1946 when the Sangiovese was introduced by Nicolo Antinori. Merlot delle Maestrelle, Chianti Superiore, Pinot Grigio and Cipresseto Rose are the newest additions to the Santa Cristina family, and they stand alongside the ‘classic’ Santa Cristina 60 years after its creation to confirm and reiterate the tradition - sure to become as revered as the Sangiovese.
Santa Cristina and Antinori wines are available in China though Summergate Fine Wines. Launch events will be held in April and May in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
